Abstract

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is one economic indicator that is often used to measure the level of price changes (inflation / deflation) at the consumer level, especially in urban areas. Changes in the CPI from time to time indicate the price movements of commodity packages consumed by households.

Starting in January 2014, the measurement of inflation in Mamuju uses the base year 2012 = 100. There are some fundamental changes in the calculation of the new CPI (2012 = 100) compared to the old CPI (2007 = 100), especially regarding city coverage, commodity packages, and weigh diagrams. These changes are based on the 2012 Cost of Living Survey (SBH) conducted by BPS, which is one of the main basic ingredients in calculating CPI. The 2012 SBH results also reflect changes in community consumption patterns compared to previous SBH results.
