Abstract

 Based on the results of the Consumer Price Survey of 66 cities in Indonesia in August 2009, there were 63 cities that experienced inflation and 3 other cities experienced deflation. Mamuju experienced inflation of 0.60 percent with CPI 119.40 and ranked 31 of the cities experiencing inflation. The highest inflation in Manokwari was 2.00 percent with CPI 130.26 and the lowest in Singkawang 0.03 percent with CPI 117.77. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Sorong 0.76 percent with CPI 134.01 and the lowest in Palembang 0.14 percent with CPI 116.27.  The inflation rate in Mamuju City in 2009 (December 2008 - August 2009) was 0.13 percent, while the inflation rate was "year on year" (August 2008 - August 2009) of 1.57 percent.  Inflation in Mamuju in August 2009 was generally caused by a significant increase in the consumer price index in all the following groups of goods and services: foodstuffs group 0.80 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group 1.02 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.50 percent; clothing group 0.25 percent; health group 0.68 percent; education, recreation and sports group 1.19 percent; and the transportation, communication and financial services group 0.03 percent.  Meanwhile for the National scale, in August 2009 inflation in Indonesia occurred at 0.56 percent, with CPI 115.25. Indonesia's inflation rate in 2009 (December 2008 - August 2009) was 1.22 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (August 2008 - August 2009) was 2.75 percent. The results of monitoring of retail prices of various commodity goods and services in August 2009 in the City of Mamuju showed generally an increase in prices. Therefore, from calculating the CPI using base year 2007 = 100, it was noted that Mamuju City experienced inflation of 0.60 percent. Means, an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 118.69 in July 2009 to 119.40 in August 2009. Related to this, the inflation rate in 2009 (December 2008 - August 2009) was 0.13 percent, while the rate year on year inflation (August 2008 - August 2009) of 1.57 percent.
