Abstract

DEVELOPMENT OF CONSUMER / INFLATION PRICE INDEX AUGUST 2010 INFLATION MAMUJU 0.77 PERCENT  Based on the Consumer Price Survey of 66 cities in Indonesia in August 2010, there were 57 cities experiencing inflation and 9 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Gorontalo 3.75 percent with CPI 126.20 and the lowest in Mataram 0.05 percent with CPI 129.02, while the highest deflation occurred in Pematang Siantar 0.75 percent with CPI 121.94 and the lowest in Sibolga 0, 02 percent with CPI 124.96. Meanwhile, with inflation of 0.77 percent and CPI 124.78 Mamuju ranks 29th among cities experiencing inflation.  The Mamuju City inflation rate in 2010 (December 2009 - August 2010) was 2.81 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (August 2009 - August 2010) was 4.51 percent.  Meanwhile for the National scale, inflation in August 2010 in Indonesia amounted to 0.76 percent, with CPI 122.67. Indonesia's inflation rate in 2010 (December 2009 - August 2010) was 4.82 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (August 2009 - August 2010) was 6.44 percent.  Inflation in Mamuju in August 2010 was generally caused by an increase in the consumer price index in the following four categories of goods and services: foodstuffs 1.75 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 1.44 percent; health group 0.40 percent; and the 0.01 percent transportation, communication and financial services group. Meanwhile, the processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group, the clothing group and the education, recreation and sports group experienced a decrease of 0.01 percent, 0.31 percent and 0.81 percent respectively;  Significant increase in the foodstuffs group was due to the large share of inflation in the vegetables, vegetables, spices and grains, tubers sub-group and their results respectively 0.37 percent, 0.23 respectively percent and 0.20 percent. While the increase which was also quite significant in the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group was caused by the magnitude of inflation in the fuel, lighting and water sub-group by 6.69 percent.  Commodities contributing to inflation are: electricity rates 0.23 percent, kale, 0.21 percent, rice and long beans 0.19 percent each, cayenne pepper 0.16 percent, red chillies 0.11 percent, fresh fish milkfish and household fuel each by 0.07 percent, house rent 0.05 percent, pedigree chicken meat, 0.04 percent and live chickens and eggs, respectively 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, commodities that contributed to inflation but were negative were: cakalng fresh fish -0.28 percent, kite fresh fish -0.17 percent, spinach, -0.08 percent, fresh tuna -0.05 percent, shallots and color television -0.03 percent and jewelery gold and garlic each -0.02 percent.
