Based on the results of the Consumer Price Survey of 66 cities in Indonesia in February 2013, it showed that 60 cities experienced inflation and 6 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Jayapura 3.15 percent with CPI 137.44 and the lowest in Sibolga 0.12 percent with CPI 146.13, while the highest deflation occurred in Ambon 2.29 percent with CPI 140.01 and the lowest in Sampit 0.01 percent with CPI 141.45. With inflation of 0.25 percent and CPI 138.97 Mamuju ranks 58th highest of cities experiencing inflation.
Mamuju experienced calendar year inflation (December 2012 - February 2013) of 0.53 percent and a year on year inflation rate (February 2012 - February 2013) of 3.12 percent.
Indonesia in February 2013 experienced inflation of 0.75 percent, with CPI 137.91. The inflation rate of the Indonesian calendar year (December 2012 - February 2013) was 1.79 percent and the inflation rate was "year on year" "(February 2012 - February 2013) at 5.31 percent.
Inflation in Mamuju in February 2013 was mainly due to an increase in the consumer price index in two expenditure groups, namely: the foodstuffs group 1.72 percent and the education, recreation and sports group 0.04 percent. Meanwhile, the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group, the housing group, water, electricity, gas and fuel, the health group, the clothing group and the transport group, communication and financial services experienced a price index decline, each by -0, 17 percent, -0.35 percent, -0.22 percent, -0.15 percent and -0.60 percent.
The increase in the foodstuffs group was mainly due to the share of inflation in the spices and grains, tubers sub-group and their products sub-group, respectively by 0.27 percent and 0.25 percent.
The dominant commodities contributing to inflation were: 0.25 percent rice, 0.16 percent garlic, 0.10 percent red chilli, 0.07 percent electricity rate, 0.06 percent chicken eggs, and broiler chicken meat and tuna fish. each at 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, the dominant commodities suppressing the inflation rate were: household fuel -0.18 percent, flying fish -0.11 percent, air transportation -0.10 percent, milkfish -0.07 percent, granulated sugar -0, 05 percent, and dried tuna and anchovies each -0.03 percent.
