Abstract

; Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) of West Sulawesi in December 2008 was 102.40; up 0.74 percent compared to November 2008 NTP which only reached 101.65. In addition, NTP according to the subsector was recorded 93.12 for the Food Crop Subsector (NTP-P); 90.41 for the Horticultural Subsector (NTP-H); 119.64 for the People's Plantation Plant Subsector (NTP-R); 106.35 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-T) and 102.42 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTN). ; The results of monitoring of rural consumer prices show that rural inflation in West Sulawesi in December 2008 was 0.62 percent, which is generally due to a significant increase in the price index in four of the seven expenditure groups: foodstuffs 0.94 percent; processed foods 1.13 percent; housing 1.33 percent; and clothing 0.37 percent. While the three other expenditure groups experienced a price index decline, among others: health -0.90 percent; education, recreation and sports -0.32 percent; and transportation and communication -1.70 percent. ; Compared to other provinces, West Sulawesi is one of 27 provinces experiencing inflation in rural areas, the highest in Central Sulawesi at 1.58 percent and the lowest in West Irian Jaya 0.05 percent. With inflation of 0.62 percent, West Sulawesi ranks 12th out of 27 provinces experiencing inflation. Meanwhile, 5 other provinces experienced deflation, the highest in Yogyakarta was 0.80 percent and the lowest in Papua was 0.01 percent.
