Abstract

 Farmers Exchange Rates (NTP) in Sulawesi Barat in October 2009 amounted to 106.81, up 0.77 percent compared to September 2009 NTP which reached 105.99. In addition, NTP according to the subsector was recorded 94.46 for the Food Crop Subsector (NTP-P); 87.58 for the Horticultural Subsector (NTP-H); 134,19 for the People's Plantation Plant Subsector (NTP-R); 108.83 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-T) and 108.72 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTN).  The results of monitoring of rural consumer prices show that rural inflation in West Sulawesi in October 2009 was 0.77 percent, which is generally due to an increase in the price index in seven expenditure groups, which is quite significant, namely the housing group rose by 1.13 percent.  Compared to other provinces, West Sulawesi is one of the 22 provinces that experienced inflation in rural areas, the highest occurred in Bali 1.32 percent and the lowest in Papua at 0.06 percent. Meanwhile, 10 other provinces experienced rural deflation, the highest in West Papua 0.63 percent and the lowest in Nangroe Aceh Darussalam 0.02 percent.  For the national scale, the NTP for October 2009 was 100.79, while the rural inflation was 0.40 Percent. The NTP and West Sulawesi Rural Inflation are still recorded higher than the national level. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) obtained from the comparison of the price index received by farmers against the price index paid by farmers, is one indicator to see the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers. NTP also shows the exchange power (term of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs. The higher the FTT, the relatively stronger the level of farmers' ability / purchasing power.
