Abstract

; In October 2008, the NTP of Sulawesi Barat Province amounted to 102.05 decreased by 2.35 percent when compared to the NTP in September 2008 which reached 104.50. Whereas the NTP according to the subsector was recorded at 90.56 for the Food Crop Subsector (NTP-P), 90.60 for the Horticultural Subsector (NTP-H), 123.47 for the People's Plantation Plant Subsector (NTP-R), 103.91 for the Subsector Animal Husbandry (NTP-T) and 104.85 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTN). ; In addition to calculating the NTP, rural inflation is also calculated. Of the 32 provinces included in the NTP calculation, 5 provinces experienced deflation, the highest being Gorontalo (-0.64%) and the lowest was South Sumatra (-0.02%). While the other 27 provinces experienced inflation, the highest was Southeast Sulawesi at 2.34 percent and the lowest was Yogyakarta at 0.07 percent. Sulawesi Barat with 0.60 percent inflation ranks 11th among the provinces experiencing inflation in rural areas. ; In October 2008, the inflation in rural areas in West Sulawesi Province was caused by an increase in the price index of several expenditure groups, as follows: foodstuffs (0.68%); prepared food, drinks and cigarettes (-0.17%); housing (1.41%); clothing (1.34%); health (0.42%); education, recreation and sports (0.30%); and transportation and communication (0.76%).
