Mamuju, 3 June 2024 – The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of West Sulawesi Province (Sulbar) recorded that the export value of West Sulawesi in April 2024 reached US$ 35.77 million, down 28.09 percent compared to March 2024.
"The decline in export value was caused by several factors, including a decrease in the price of West Sulawesi's main export commodities, namely animal/vegetable fats and oils," said Head of BPS West Sulawesi, Tina Wahyufitri, in a press release held today.
Despite the decline, the value of West Sulawesi exports in April 2024 was still higher than April 2023 with a value of US$ 27.53 million.
"Animal/vegetable fats and oils are still West Sulawesi's main export commodities with a contribution of 91.41 percent of West Sulawesi's total exports," explained Tina.
Meanwhile, the value of West Sulawesi imports in April 2024 reached US$ 0.23 million, an increase from March 2024 when no imports were recorded.
"The increase in import value was mainly caused by the influx of capital goods to support investment activities in West Sulawesi," said Tina.
