Based on the results of the Consumer Price Survey of 66 cities in Indonesia in November 2013, it showed that 38 cities experienced inflation and 28 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Maumere 1.54 percent with CPI 164.61 and the lowest in Mataram and Sibolga 0.03 percent with CPI 159.40 and 153.66. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Sorong -1.29 percent with CPI 163.95 and the lowest in Bengkulu -0.02 percent with CPI 155.96. With inflation of -0.08 percent and CPI 146.03 Mamuju ranks 26th highest out of 28 cities experiencing deflation.
Mamuju experienced calendar year inflation (December 2012 - November 2013) of 5.64 percent and a year on year inflation rate (November 2012 - November 2013) of 6.09 percent.
Indonesia in November 2013 experienced inflation of 0.12 percent, with CPI 146.04. The inflation rate of the Indonesian calendar year (December 2012 - October 2013) was 7.79 percent and the inflation rate was "year on year" "(October 2012 - October 2013) at 8.37 percent.
Deflation in Mamuju in November 2013 was mainly due to a significant decrease in the consumer price index in the foodstuffs group, which was -1.33 percent, while six other expenditure groups experienced an increase in price index, including: the transportation, communication and financial services group 0 , 74 percent, the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.55 percent, the health group 0.43 percent, the processed food group, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.12 percent, the clothing group 0.01 percent and the education group , recreation and sports 0.01 percent.
The decrease in the price index in the foodstuffs group was caused by a significant decrease in the price index in the spices and meat sub-group and their products, -10.03 percent and -8.77 percent, respectively. The decrease in the two sub-groups contributed significantly to reducing the general inflation rate in November 2013, which amounted to -0.41 percent.
The dominant commodities contributing to inflation were: cars and electricity rates each 0.08 percent, motorbikes, skipjack fish and shallots each 0.04 percent, flying fish and milkfish each 0.03 percent, and house contracts, rice, granulated sugar and wet shrimp each 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the dominant commodities suppressing the inflation rate were: red chili -0.24 percent, cayenne pepper -0.09 percent, live chickens -0.07 percent, pedigree chicken -0.06 percent, chicken eggs -0, 05 percent, as well as fruit tomatoes, water spinach and cabbage / cabbage each -0.02 percent.
