Inflation in Mamuju City in October 2013

Abstract

Based on the results of the Consumer Price Survey of 66 cities in Indonesia in October 2013, it showed that 39 cities experienced inflation and 27 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sibolga 1.25 percent with CPI 153.62 and the lowest in Samarinda 0.04 percent with CPI 159.33. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Ambon -3.82 percent with CPI 150.07 and the lowest in Watampone -0.02 percent with CPI 159.20. With inflation of 0.36 percent and CPI 146.15 Mamuju ranks 22nd out of 39 cities experiencing inflation.

Mamuju experienced calendar year inflation (December 2012 - October 2013) of 5.72 percent and a year on year inflation rate (October 2012 - October 2013) of 6.47 percent.

Indonesia in October 2013 experienced inflation of 0.09 percent, with CPI 145.87. The inflation rate of the Indonesian calendar year (December 2012 - September 2013) was 7.66 percent and the inflation rate was "year on year" "(September 2012 - September 2013) of 8.49 percent.

Inflation in Mamuju in October 2013 was mainly due to an increase in the consumer price index in six expenditure groups, namely: foodstuffs 0.60 percent, processed foods, drinks, cigarettes and tobacco 0.69 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.20 percent, health group 0.76 percent, transportation, communication and financial services group 0.14 percent. While the group that experienced a decrease in the index number was the clothing group -0.30 while the education, recreation and sports group did not experience a change in the index number.

The increase in price index in the foodstuffs group was caused by an increase in the price index in the legumes sub-group, which was 3.99 percent.

The dominant commodities contributing to inflation were: red chillies 0.14 percent, snacks / snacks 0.09 percent, skipjack fish and apples 0.05 percent, vegetable tomatoes and milkfish 0.03 percent. While commodities that curbed the inflation rate were onion -0.12 percent, rice and fruit tomatoes -0.04 percent, chicken eggs, coconut oil and gold jewelery -0.03 percent respectively.
