Inflation in Mamuju City in March 2013 was 0.89 percent

Abstract

Based on the results of the Consumer Price Survey of 66 cities in Indonesia in March 2013, it showed that 58 cities experienced inflation and 8 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sorong 1.73 percent with CPI 156.31 and the lowest in Pekanbaru 0.04 percent with CPI 137.18, while the highest deflation occurred in Jayapura 2.63 percent with CPI 133.82 and the lowest in Dumai 0.01 percent with CPI 140.61. With inflation of 0.89 percent and CPI 140.21 Mamuju ranks 23rd highest of cities experiencing inflation.

Mamuju experienced calendar year inflation (December 2012 - March 2013) of 1.43 percent and a year on year inflation rate (March 2012 - March 2013) of 4.19 percent.

Indonesia in March 2013 experienced inflation of 0.63 percent, with CPI 138.78. The inflation rate of the Indonesian calendar year (December 2012 - March 2013) was 2.43 percent and the inflation rate "year on year" "(March 2012 - March 2013) was 5.90 percent.

Inflation in Mamuju in March 2013 was mainly due to an increase in the consumer price index in five expenditure groups, namely: the foodstuffs group 2.60 percent, the transportation group, communication and financial services 0.54 percent, the processed food group, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco , 23 percent, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.23 percent and health group 0.07 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing group and the education, recreation and sports group experienced a decrease in the price index, respectively by -0.22 percent and -0.02 percent.

The increase in the foodstuffs group, mainly due to the magnitude of very high inflation in the spices sub-group 1.01 percent, while the grains, tubers and their products sub-group and the eggs, milk and their products sub-group were quite dominant pressing the inflation rate of the foodstuffs group, respectively -0.10 percent and -0.08 percent.

The dominant commodities contributing to inflation were: garlic 0.69 percent, cayenne pepper and red chili each 0.13 percent, air transport 0.08 percent, onion 0.07 percent, tomato fruit 0.04 percent, contracts houses 0.03 percent, beef, house rent, filter kretek cigarette boards and 0.02 percent katamba fish. Meanwhile, the dominant commodities suppressing the inflation rate were: rice -0.10 percent, chicken eggs -0.08 percent, skipjack fish and flying fish each -0.05 percent, gold jewelry -0.04 percent, materials household fuel -0.03 percent and banana -0.02 percent.
