Release Date : December 19, 2010
File Size : 0.11 MB

Abstract

 Farmers Exchange Rates (NTP) of Sulawesi Barat in November 2010 amounted to 105.20, up 0.43 percent compared to October 2010 NTP of 104.75. In addition, FTT according to the subsector was recorded for the Food Crop Subsector (NTP-P) 91.05; Horticulture Subsector (NTP-H) 85.95; Community Plantation Plant Subsector (NTP-R) 128.87; Livestock Subsector (NTP-T) 112.99; and Fisheries Subsector (NTN) 107.35.  Results of monitoring of rural consumer prices show that rural inflation in West Sulawesi in November 2010 was 0.17 percent, which is generally due to an increase in price index in four expenditure groups namely foodstuffs 0.21 percent, processed food groups 0.04 percent , housing group 0.68 percent, and health group 0.08 percent. One expenditure group experienced a decrease, namely the clothing group -0.20 percent, while the other two expenditure groups did not change, namely the education, recreation & sports group, and the transportation and communication group.  Inflation in rural areas occurred in 32 provinces, the highest in Nangroe Aceh Darussalam 1.10 percent and the lowest in Central Sulawesi 0.04 percent. West Sulawesi ranks 27th with inflation in rural areas.  For the national scale, NTP in November 2010 was 102.89 and experienced rural inflation of 0.79 percent. West Sulawesi's NTP is still recorded higher than the national level. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) obtained from the comparison of the price index received by farmers against the price index paid by farmers, is one indicator to see the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers. NTP also shows the exchange power (term of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs. The higher the FTT, the relatively stronger the level of farmers' ability / purchasing power. The results of monitoring the prices of producers of various commodity goods and services in rural areas showed that the NTP of West Sulawesi in November 2010 was 105.20 or increased by 0.43 percent compared to the October 2010 NTP of 104.75. This is due to changes in the price index received by farmers rose 0.55 percent while the index paid by farmers rose only 0.12 percent. Means, in general, the increase in prices of agricultural commodities from the previous month is faster than the increase in prices of goods for consumption and production. As a result, the comparison between the price index received and the price index paid by farmers tends to be higher.
