Abstract

April Farmers Exchange Rates (NTP) in Sulawesi Barat in April 2010 amounted to 105.68, down 0.38 percent compared to March 2010 NTP which reached 106.08. In addition, NTP according to the subsector was recorded 94.02 for the Food Crop Subsector (NTP-P); 84.74 for the Horticultural Subsector (NTP-H); 128.46 for the People's Plantation Plant Subsector (NTP-R); 111.71 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-T) and 106.89 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTN).  The results of monitoring of rural consumer prices show that rural deflation in Sulawesi Barat in April 2010 was 0.19 percent, which is generally due to a decrease in the price index in two of the seven expenditure groups, which is quite significant namely the foodstuffs group decreased by 0.72 percent .  Compared to other provinces, Sulawesi Barat is one of 11 provinces experiencing deflation in rural areas, the highest in Central Sulawesi at 0.73 percent and the lowest in Nusa Tenggara Barat at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, 21 other provinces experienced rural inflation, the highest occurred in Central Kalimantan at 0.86 percent and the lowest in Kalimantan Timur at 0.07 percent.  For the national scale, NTP for April 2010 was 101.15, while rural inflation was 0.18 Percent. Sulawesi Barat NTP is still higher than the national NTP. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) obtained from the comparison of the price index received by farmers against the price index paid by farmers, is one indicator to see the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers. NTP also shows the exchange power (term of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs. The higher the FTT, the relatively stronger the level of farmers' ability / purchasing power.
