Abstract

 Farmers Exchange Rates (NTP) in West Sulawesi in June 2010 amounted to 106.30, up 0.43 percent compared to the May 2010 NTP of 105.85. In addition, FTT according to the subsector was recorded 94.11 for the Food Crop Subsector (FTT-P); 84.75 for the Horticultural Subsector (NTP-H); 130.73 for the People's Plantation Plant Subsector (NTP-R); 112.07 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-T) and 107.49 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTN).  Results of monitoring of rural consumer prices show rural deflation in West Sulawesi in June 2010 of -0.19 percent, which is generally due to a decrease in the price index in five of the seven expenditure groups, which is quite significant namely the foodstuffs group -0.30 percent , the processed food group -0.14 percent, the housing group -0.16 percent, the health group -0.13 percent and the transportation and communication group -0.22 percent.  Compared to other provinces, West Sulawesi is one of the 4 provinces experiencing deflation in rural areas, the highest in East Nusa Tenggara 0.53 percent and the lowest in South Sulawesi 0.08 percent. Meanwhile, 28 other provinces experienced rural inflation, the highest occurred in West Sumatra 1.09 percent and the lowest in the Riaua Islands 0.07 percent.  For the national scale, the NTP for June 2010 was 101.39 and experienced rural inflation of 0.71 Percent. West Sulawesi's NTP is still higher than the national NTP, while the national rural inflation is also much higher than West Sulawesi. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) obtained from the comparison of the price index received by farmers against the price index paid by farmers, is one indicator to see the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers. NTP also shows the exchange power (term of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs. The higher the FTT, the relatively stronger the level of farmers' ability / purchasing power. The results of monitoring the prices of producers of various commodity goods and services in rural areas showed that the West Sulawesi NTP in June 2010 was 106.30, an increase of 0.43 percent compared to the NTP of May 2010 which amounted to 105.85. This is due to changes in the price index received by farmers is much higher than the index paid by farmers, which is 0.33 percent compared to -0.09 percent. Means, in general there is an increase in the price of agricultural commodities from the previous month, while the prices of goods for consumption and production have decreased. As a result, the comparison between the price index received and the price index paid by farmers is higher.
