Abstract

 Farmers Exchange Rates (NTP) in Sulawesi Barat in July 2010 amounted to 105.37, down 0.87 percent compared to the June 2010 NTP of 106.30. In addition, NTP according to the subsector was recorded 92.74 for the Food Crop Subsector (NTP-P); 84.55 for the Horticultural Subsector (NTP-H); 128.86 for the People's Plantation Plant Subsector (NTP-R); 111.73 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-T) and 107.58 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTN).  The results of monitoring of rural consumer prices show rural inflation in Sulawesi Barat in July 2010 amounted to 1.60 percent, which is generally due to an increase in the price index in five of the seven expenditure groups, which is quite significant namely the foodstuffs group 3.28 percent, the group housing 0.50 percent, clothing group 0.10 percent, education, recreation & sports group 1.19 percent and transportation and communication group 0.02 percent.  Inflation in rural areas occurred in all provinces including Sulawesi Barat, the highest in East Java 2.58 percent and the lowest in Nusa Tenggara Timur 0.92 percent.  For the national scale, the NTP for July 2010 was 101.77 and experienced rural inflation of 1.93 Percent. Sulawesi Barat NTP is still higher than the national NTP, while the national rural inflation is higher than West Sulawesi. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) obtained from the comparison of the price index received by farmers against the price index paid by farmers, is one indicator to see the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers. NTP also shows the exchange power (term of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs. The higher the FTT, the relatively stronger the level of farmers' ability / purchasing power.
