Abstract

 Farmers Exchange Rate (NTP) of Sulawesi Barat in March 2010 amounted to 106.08, up 0.11 percent compared to February 2010 NTP which reached 105.96. In addition, NTP according to the subsector was recorded 93.85 for the Food Crop Subsector (NTP-P); 87.00 for the Horticultural Subsector (NTP-H); 130.41 for the People's Plantation Plant Subsector (NTP-R); 111.14 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-T) and 106.71 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTN).  The results of monitoring of rural consumer prices show that rural deflation in Sulawesi Barat in March 2010 was 0.11 percent, which is generally due to a decrease in the price index in four of the seven expenditure groups, which is quite significant namely the processed food group decreased by 0.79 percent .  Compared to other provinces, Sulawesi Barat is one of the 17 provinces that experienced deflation in rural areas, the highest occurred in Nangro Aceh Darusalam by 0.54 percent and the lowest in Jambi by 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, 15 other provinces experienced rural inflation, the highest occurred in Maluku by 0.74 percent and the lowest in Sulawesi Tenggara by 0.07 percent.  For the national scale, the NTP in March 2010 was 101.20, while the rural deflation was 0.13 percent. Sulawesi Barat NTP is still higher than the national NTP. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) obtained from the comparison of the price index received by farmers against the price index paid by farmers, is one indicator to see the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers. NTP also shows the exchange power (term of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs. The higher the FTT, the relatively stronger the level of farmers' ability / purchasing power.
