DEVELOPMENT OF FARMERS EXCHANGE RATE IN 2010 NTP SULAWESI BARAT 105.85

Abstract

 Farmers Exchange Rates (NTP) in Sulawesi Barat in May 2010 amounted to 105.85, up 0.17 percent compared to April 2010 NTP of 105.68. In addition, NTP according to the subsector was recorded 94.03 for the Food Crop Subsector (NTP-P); 85.12 for the Horticultural Subsector (NTP-H); 129.04 for the People's Plantation Plant Subsector (NTP-R); 111.66 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-T) and 107.12 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTN).  Results of monitoring of rural consumer prices show rural inflation in Sulawesi Barat in May 2010 by 0.01 percent, which is generally due to an increase in price indexes in three of the seven expenditure groups, which is quite significant namely the foodstuffs group of 0.09 percent, groups processed foods 0.09 percent and clothing group 0.08 percent.  Compared to other provinces, Sulawesi Barat is one of the 21 provinces that experienced inflation in rural areas, the highest in Maluku 0.84 percent and the lowest in Sulawesi Barat 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, Jambi did not experience changes in the price index, while 10 other provinces experienced rural deflation, the highest occurred in Gorontalo 0.36 percent and the lowest in East Java 0.02 percent.  For the national scale, the NTP for May 2010 was 101.16, while the rural inflation was 0.09 Percent. West Sulawesi's NTP is still higher than the national NTP, while the national rural inflation is still higher than Sulawesi Barat. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) obtained from the comparison of the price index received by farmers against the price index paid by farmers, is one indicator to see the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers. NTP also shows the exchange power (term of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs. The higher the FTT, the relatively stronger the level of farmers' ability / purchasing power. The results of monitoring the prices of producers of various commodity goods and services in rural areas showed that the West Sulawesi NTP in May 2010 was 105.85, an increase of 0.17 percent compared to the April 2010 NTP of 105.68. This is due to changes in the price index received by farmers is much higher than the index paid by farmers, which is 0.22 percent compared to 0.05 percent. Means, in general there has been an increase in the price of agricultural commodities from the previous month, while the prices of goods for consumption and production have also increased, but are still lower than those received by farmers. As a result, the comparison between the price index received and the price index paid by farmers tends to be higher.
