Abstract

; Based on the results of the Consumer Price Survey of 66 cities in Indonesia in March 2009, 45 cities experienced inflation and 21 other cities experienced deflation. Mamuju experienced inflation of 0.35 percent with CPI 118.83 and ranked 27th of the cities experiencing inflation. The highest inflation in Jayapura was 1.67 percent with CPI 115.25 and the lowest in Sumenep and Depok 0.03 percent with CPI 111.44 and 112.92. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Maumer 1.34 percent with CPI 120.23 and the lowest in Tegal 0.01 percent with CPI 113.57. ; The inflation rate in 2009 (March 2009 to December 2008) was -0.35 percent, while the inflation rate "year on year" (March 2009 to March 2008) was 9.64 percent. ; Inflation in Mamuju in March 2009 was generally caused by an increase in the consumer price index of various commodities in the following four categories of goods and services: the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group 1.56 percent; health group 0.12 percent; education, recreation and sports group 0.60 percent; and the transportation, communication and financial services group 0.61 percent. While the price index in the foodstuffs, housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel, and clothing groups respectively dropped 0.06 percent, 0.14 percent and 0.27 percent. ; Commodities that contributed significantly to inflation were: cakes 0.17 percent, skipjack 0.12 percent, coconut oil and cellphones each 0.10 percent, filter clove cigarettes 0.08 percent, vegetable tomatoes 0.04 percent, chicken eggs 0.03 percent, as well as washing machines, salted fish, color television, red chillies, dried anchovies and green beans each car 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, commodities contributing to deflation were: milkfish 0.17 percent, spinach 0.05 percent, rice, katamba and live chickens each 0.04 percent, jewelry gold and wood beams each 0.03 percent, chili cayenne iron, zinc and zinc respectively 0.02 percent, and beef, flying fish, purebred meat, wet anchovies, nails, fruit tomatoes, cassava leaves and bloating / bloating 0.01 percent each. The results of monitoring of retail prices of various commodity goods and services in March 2009 in the City of Mamuju showed a general increase in prices. Therefore, from calculating the CPI using base year 2007 = 100, it was noted that Mamuju City experienced inflation of 0.35 percent. Means, an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 118.42 in February 2009 to 118.83 in March 2009. Related to this, the inflation rate in 2009 (March 2009 to December 2008) amounted to -0.35 percent, while year on year inflation rate (March 2009 to March 2008) of 9.64 percent.
