Abstract

; In July 2008, Kota Mamuju experienced inflation of 0.81 percent with the consumer price index (CPI) of 113.90. All cities of the 66 cities studied experienced inflation, the highest in Manokwari by 4.33 percent with CPI 117.45 and the lowest in Banda Aceh 0.25 percent with CPI 110.82. Mamuju ranks 56th among cities experiencing inflation. ; The inflation rate in 2008 was 6.65 percent, while the inflation rate "year on year" (July 2008 to July 2007) was 15.53 percent. ; Inflation occurring in July was mainly due to an increase in prices of goods and services indicated by an increase in the index according to the group of goods and services as follows: the foodstuffs group by 0.18 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco group of 1.07 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel group of 0.98 percent; clothing group of 2.43 percent; health group of 0.71 percent; education, recreation, and sports group of 1.07 percent; and the transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.67 percent. ; Commodities that contributed significantly to inflation included: gado-gado by 0.08 percent; rickshaw rates, lubricants / oil and fruit juices each by 0.06 percent; purebred meat, gold jewelery and color television by 0.04 percent.
