Abstract

RESULTS OF LISTING COMPANY / BUSINESS SENSUS ECONOMIC WEST SULAWESI 2006 € The results of the listing of companies / businesses of the Economic Census (SE06) in West Sulawesi showed that the total number of companies / businesses outside the agricultural sector was 87.03 thousand, consisting of of 35.6 thousand (40.93 percent) doing business in non-permanent locations and 51.4 thousand (59.07 percent) doing business in permanent locations. Compared to 1996, the number of companies / businesses increased by 27.6 thousand, or 3.89 percent per year. € Based on the business scale, most of the companies / businesses are Micro Enterprises (UM) and Small Enterprises (UK), with percentages respectively 90.08 percent and 9.49 percent. While the number of companies / businesses that are Medium and Large Enterprises (UMB) is only 375 businesses or no more than 1 percent of all companies / businesses. € The total workforce absorbed reached 153.8 thousand people. Around 114.1 thousand people (74.14 percent) of them work in companies / businesses with permanent locations, while the rest work for companies / businesses in non-permanent locations. According to the business scale, 81.89 percent work in micro businesses, 14.82 percent in small businesses, 1.88 percent in medium businesses, and 1.42 percent in large businesses. € Polewali Mandar Regency is a favorite place for business. This can be seen from as many as 39.5 thousand businesses (45.39 percent) located there followed by Mamuju Regency with the number of companies / businesses as many as 21.2 thousand (24.36 percent), and the rest are in Majene, Mamasa, and Mamuju Regencies North respectively by 14.29 percent, 8.15 percent and 7.80 percent. € Viewed according to business, it appears that large and retail trade businesses constitute the largest economic activity, totaling 50.3 thousand companies / businesses (57.81 percent), followed by manufacturing and transportation, warehousing and communication industries, each of which reached 13 6 thousand companies / businesses (15.58 percent) and 10.6 thousand companies / businesses (12.19 percent).
