Abstract

RICE, MAIZE, AND SOYBEAN PRODUCTION (TEMPORARY FIGURE 2006 AND RAMALAN FIGURE I 2007) Provisional Figures (ASEM) of West Sulawesi Province's 2006 rice production amounted to 290,377 tons of Dry Milled Grain (GKG), an increase of 36,491 tons (14.37 percent) compared to production 2005 rice. The increase in rice production in 2006 was supported by an increase in productivity of 4.27 quintal / hectare (10.05 percent), and also the harvested area experienced an increase of 2,349 hectares (3.93 percent). Forecast Number I (ARAM I) of West Sulawesi Province's rice production in 2007 was estimated at 288,964 tons of MPD, down by 1,413 tons (0.49 percent) compared to 2006 production. The decline in production in 2007 was expected to occur due to a decrease in productivity of 0.53 quintals / hectare or 1.14 percent, while the harvested area is expected to increase by 413 hectares (0.66 percent). ASEM West Sulawesi Province corn production in 2006 amounted to 19,652 tons of dry shelled, an increase of 2,309 tons (13.31 percent) compared to 2005 production. Increased corn production was due to an increase in harvested area of ​​448 hectares (8.58 percent), while productivity increased 1.45 quintal / hectare (4.36 percent). ARAM I West Java Province corn production in 2007 amounted to 19,106 tons of dry shelled, decreased by 546 tons (2.78 percent) compared to 2006 production. The decline in production occurred because the harvested area decreased by around 164 hectares (2.89 percent) despite productivity increased by 0.04 quintal / hectare (0.12 percent).
