Abstract
RICE, MAIZE AND SOYBEAN PRODUCTION (TEMPORARY FIGURE 2009 AND RAMALAN FIGURE I 2010) A. RICE (Lowland Rice + Field Rice) Provisional figures (ASEM) of Sulawesi Barat Province's 2009 rice production amounted to 309,268 tons of Milled Dry Grain (GKG), decreased 33,953 tons (-9.89 percent) compared to rice production in 2008, which amounted to 343,221 tons. The decline in rice production in 2009 was caused by a decrease in harvested area of 7,824 ha or around 10.80 percent, but in terms of productivity an increase of 0.48 quintal / hectare (1.01 percent). Forecast Number I (ARAM I) of Sulawesi Barat Province's rice production in 2010 is estimated to reach 314,797 tons of MPD, an increase of 5,529 tons (1.79 percent) compared to 2009 production (ASEM). The increase in production in 2010 was triggered by an increase in productivity which is also expected to increase from 47.84 quintal / hectare in 2009 to 47.93 quintal / hectare in 2010, or an increase of 0.09 quintal / hectare (0.19 percent), thus also with a harvested area estimated to increase by 1,033 hectares (1.60 percent), from 64,647 hectares in 2009 (ASEM) to 65,680 hectares in 2010 (ARAM I 2010) B. CORN Provisional Figures (ASEM) Province corn production Sulawesi Barat in 2009 amounted to 58,311 tons of dry shelled rice, an increase of 18,059 tons (44.86 percent) compared to 2008 production. Increased corn production was triggered by an increase in harvested area of 2,582 hectares (28.34 percent) and also an increase in productivity by 5, 69 quintal / hectare (12.88 percent), from 44.18 quintal / hectare in 2008 to 49.87 quintal / hectare in 2009. Forecast figure (ARAM I) of Sulawesi Barat Province corn production in 2010 was the amount of 58,815 tons of dry shelled or increased by 504 tons (0.86 percent) compared to 2009 production. The increase in corn production was triggered by an increase in harvested area of 154 hectares (1.32 percent) but productivity will decrease by 0.22 quintal / hectare (0.44 percent). C. SOYBEAN Soybean production in West Sulawesi Province in 2009 was 3,153 tons of dry beans, an increase of 1,099 tons (53.51 percent) compared to 2008's production of 2,054 tons of dry beans. The increase in production occurred due to an increase in harvested area of 578 hectares (38.58 percent), in 2008 the harvested area was 1,498 ha and in 2009 the harvested area was 2,076, and also an increase in productivity of 1,48 quintal / hectare (10.80 percent ), i.e. in 2008 it was 13.71 quintal / hectare to 15.19 quintal / hectare in 2009.
