Mamuju - The tourism sector in West Sulawesi is showing a positive trend. Based on the release of the West Sulawesi BPS, the room occupancy rate (TPK) of star hotels in November 2024 experienced a significant increase, reaching 51.64%. This figure increased by 14.17 points compared to the previous month.
"The increase in the TPK of star hotels is very encouraging. This shows that the tourist attraction of West Sulawesi is increasing and has succeeded in attracting the interest of tourists," said the Head of the West Sulawesi Province BPS, Tina Wahyufitri, in a press release, Thursday (2/1/2025).
However, the TPK of non-star hotels actually decreased slightly. However, overall, this data shows a shift in tourist preferences towards higher quality accommodation.
In addition to the increase in TPK, BPS data also shows an increase in the number of domestic tourist trips originating from within the West Sulawesi region. This indicates an increase in the interest of local people to travel in their own areas.
"The increase in the number of domestic tourist trips shows that there is public awareness of the tourism potential in West Sulawesi. This is also an opportunity for tourism business actors to develop more diverse and attractive tourism products," added Tina.
