Polewali Mandar, August 1, 2024 The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of West Sulawesi Province recorded year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation of 2.08 percent in July 2024, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) reaching 105.83. The highest inflation occurred in Majene Regency (2.15 percent) and the lowest in Mamuju (1.99 percent).
"This annual inflation was driven by price increases in several expenditure groups, especially food, beverages, tobacco, and food and beverage/restaurant supplies," said the Head of BPS of West Sulawesi Province, Tina Wahyufitri.
Despite annual inflation, West Sulawesi experienced month-to-month (m-to-m) deflation of 0.45 percent in July 2024. Cumulatively, year-to-date (y-t-d) inflation reached 0.59 percent.
"This monthly deflation shows a decrease in prices for several commodities, which contributed to the controlled rate of inflation in West Sulawesi," Tina added.
BPS of West Sulawesi Province will continue to monitor price and inflation developments to provide accurate and up-to-date information to the public and stakeholders.
