West Sulawesi Tourism Development Records Significant Increase

Mamuju – Head of the West Sulawesi Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS), Tina Wahyufitri, conveyed the development of the tourism sector in the province in December 2023. This announcement was made in the West Sulawesi Province BPS Hall (01/02).


According to released data, the Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) for Star Classified Hotels in West Sulawesi Province in December 2023 reached 48.14 percent, experiencing a significant increase of 5.01 points compared to November 2023. Meanwhile, the TPK for non-Star Hotels or Other Accommodation decreased by 1.32 points to 19.92 percent.


Tina said, "We are pleased to announce that the tourism sector in West Sulawesi showed a significant increase in December 2023. The Star Classification Hotel Room Occupancy Rate reached 48.14 percent, illustrating the increasing tourist attraction in our region."


Other details reveal that the average length of stay for Indonesian guests at Star Classified Hotels decreased by 0.21 days, to 1.11 days. Even though there were no foreign guests staying at Star Classified Hotels during December 2023, the average number of guests per room increased by 0.06 points to 1.99 people.


On the other hand, the ROR for non-star hotels or other accommodation in December 2023 was 19.92 percent, indicating a decrease of 1.32 points from the previous month. However, the average length of stay for Indonesian guests increased by 0.03 days to 1.09 days. Meanwhile, the average number of guests per room has not changed significantly.


From a comparison with other provinces on Sulawesi Island, West Sulawesi is at the highest Star Classification Hotel ROR level at 48.14 percent. However, there was a significant increase compared to the same period the previous year which reached 29.92 percent.


Through this achievement, West Sulawesi shows its potential as an attractive tourist destination, and BPS continues to strive to provide accurate and up-to-date data to support the development of the tourism sector in this province.
