Abstract

Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) is a composite indicator that shows the level of development of democracy in Indonesia. The level of implementation achievements and progress is measured based on three aspects, 11 variables, and 28 indicators of democracy.

IDI calculation methodology uses four sources of data: (1) review the local newspapers, (2) review of documents (legislation, gubernatorial, etc.), (3) Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) in-depth interviews.

Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI), Sulawesi Barat in 2018 amounted to 71.46 rose 3.72 points compared with IDI Sulawesi Barat in 2017 amounted to 67.74. The achievement of the level of democracy in Sulawesi Barat still remain in the category of ""medium"". Broadly speaking, the level of democracy grouped into three categories of ""good"" (index> 80), ""moderate"" (index 60-80), and ""bad"" (index <60).

Changes from 2017-2018 influenced democracy three aspects: (1) Civil Liberties rose 13.85 points (from 73.56 into 87.41), (2) Political Rights which fell 5.79 points (from 60.84 into 55.05), and (3) institutions of Democracy which rose 6.06 points (from 71.39 into 77.45).
