Abstract

Based on the results of the Consumer Price Survey of 66 cities in Indonesia in December 2012, it showed that all cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Jayapura 2.57 percent with CPI 132.71 and the lowest in Kendari 0.02 percent with CPI 141.15. With inflation of 0.43 percent and CPI 138.24 Mamuju ranks 46th highest out of 66 cities.

The highest inflation rate in 2012 (December 2011 - December 2012) occurred in Palangkaraya at 6.73 percent and the lowest in Banda Aceh 0.06 percent. Meanwhile, with inflation of 3.28 percent Mamuju ranked 59th highest out of 66 cities.

Indonesia in December 2012 experienced inflation of 0.54 percent, with CPI of 135.49, while Indonesia's inflation rate in 2012 (December 2011 - December 2012) was 4.30 percent.

Inflation in Mamuju in December 2012 was mainly due to an increase in the consumer price index in all expenditure groups, namely: clothing group 1.24 percent: foodstuffs group 0.90 percent: transportation, communication and financial services group 0.35 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group 0.08 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.08 percent; the education, recreation and sports group 0.07 percent and the health group almost close to 0.00 percent.

Significant increase in the foodstuffs group, mainly due to the magnitude of inflation in the spices sub-group, the fruit and grains sub-group, tubers and their products respectively 0.17 percent, 0.11 percent and 0.09 percent. The increase was also quite significant in the clothing group, mainly due to the large share of inflation in the women's clothing sub-group 0.03 percent.

The dominant commodities contributing to inflation were: rice, air transport and red chili each by 0.08 percent, cayenne pepper 0.07 percent, banana 0.04 percent, fruit tomatoes, shallots and broiler eggs each 0, 03 percent, as well as oranges, beans and children's shirts / t-shirts 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, the dominant commodities suppressing the inflation rate were: milkfish -0.05 percent, skipjack fish -0.04 percent, and katamba fish, inter-city transportation and spinach each -0.02 percent.
