Abstract

The Farmers Exchange Rate (NTP) of Sulawesi Barat in January 2012 was 103.55, down 0.14 percent compared to the NTP in December 2011 which was 103.70. In addition, FTT according to the subsector was recorded for the Food Crop subsector (FTT-P) 88.87; Horticultural Subsector (NTP-H) 84.03; People's Plantation Plant Subsector (NTP-R) 127.95; Livestock Subsector (NTP-T) 111.92; and Fisheries Subsector (NTN) 105.46.

The results of monitoring of rural consumer prices show that rural inflation in Sulawesi Barat in January 2012 amounted to 0.37 percent, which is generally due to an increase in the price index in five expenditure groups namely the food expenditure group 0.63 percent, the housing group 0.62 percent, education, recreation and sports group 0.32 percent, clothing group 0.22 percent, and health group 0.09 percent. While the other two expenditure groups experienced deflation, where the processed food group was -0.09 percent and the transportation and communication group was -0.01 percent.

Inflation in rural areas occurred in all provinces, the highest in West Kalimantan 1.20 percent and the lowest in Gorontalo 0.17 percent. Rural price inflation in West Sulawesi ranks 30th out of 32 provinces.

For the national scale, the NTP in January 2012 was 105.73 and experienced rural inflation of 0.74 percent.
