Abstract

; Sulawesi Barat Farmer Exchange Rates (NTP) in August 2009 amounted to 106.16, up 0.74 percent compared to July 2009 NTP which reached 105.38. In addition, FTT according to the subsector was recorded at 95.65 for the Food Crop Subsector (FTT-P); 86.71 for the Horticultural Subsector (NTP-H); 131.74 for the People's Plantation Plant Subsector (NTP-R); 108.84 for the Livestock Subsector (NTP-T) and 104.92 for the Fisheries Subsector (NTN). ; The results of monitoring of rural consumer prices show that rural inflation in West Sulawesi in August 2009 amounted to 0.50 percent, which is generally due to an increase in the price index in five of the seven expenditure groups, which is quite significant namely the foodstuffs group increased by 1.00 percent. The other two groups experienced deflation in rural areas, namely: the housing group 0.13 percent and the education, recreation and sports group 0.55 percent. ; Compared to other provinces, West Sulawesi is one of 32 provinces that experienced inflation in rural areas, the highest occurred in West Papua 1.78 percent and the lowest in North Sulawesi by 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, no province experienced rural deflation. ; For the national scale, the August NTP is 100.24. West Sulawesi is still higher than the national level. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) obtained from the comparison of the price index received by farmers against the price index paid by farmers, is one indicator to see the level of ability / purchasing power of farmers. NTP also shows the exchange power (term of trade) of agricultural products with goods and services consumed as well as for production costs. The higher the FTT, the relatively stronger the level of farmers' ability / purchasing power. The results of monitoring the prices of producers of various commodity goods and services in rural areas showed that the West Sulawesi NTP in August 2009 was 106.16, an increase of 0.74 percent compared to the July 2009 NTP of 105.38. This is due to changes in the price index received by farmers rose 1.19 percent, while the index paid by farmers rose only 0.45 percent. Means, in general, the increase in prices of agricultural commodities from the previous month is faster than the increase in prices of goods for consumption and production. As a result, the comparison between the price index received and the price index paid by farmers tends to be higher.
