Abstract

LEVEL OF HOTEL ROOM IN SULAWESI BARAT, SEMESTER II 2008; The Average Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) of Starred Hotels in West Sulawesi in the second semester of 2008 was around 27.88 percent. That is, the average number of rooms used out of all available rooms is only 27.88 percent. The highest Occupancy Rate of the Starred Hotels occurred in November at 40.04 percent, while the lowest was at 15.85 percent in October 2008.; The average TPK for Other Accommodations is around 32.36 percent, 4.48 points higher than the average TPK for starred hotels in the same period (semester II 2008). The highest TPK for other accommodations occurred in August at 35.84 percent and the lowest occurred in September at 28.19 percent. ; The average length of stay of foreign guests in the Classified Hotel classification during semester II of 2008 was 1.93 days or 0.68 points lower than the average length of stay of Archipelago guests by 2.61 days. Furthermore, in the Other Accommodation classification the average length of stay of foreign guests was 1.86 days or 0.35 points higher than that of Nusantara guests with an average length of stay of 1.51 days. Therefore there is no significant difference between the average length of stay of foreign guests at Starred hotels and the average length of stay of foreign guests on other accommodations. ; Guest Per Room (GPR) or the average number of Guests per Room for Starred Hotels in the second semester of 2008 was 1.64 people, 0.09 points lower than the Other Accommodation GPR of 1.73 people. This means that the average rooms sold in the Classified Hotel classification is inhabited by 1.64 people, while in the Other Accommodation classification the average rooms sold is occupied by 1.73 people.
