MANPOWER STATE IN WEST SULAWESI (RESULTS OF SAKERNAS FEBRUARY 2007)

The total workforce in February 2007 reached 458,509 people, an increase of about 27,182 people (6.30%) compared to the total workforce in August 2006 of 431,327 people. o The number of people employed in February 2007 was 439,772 people, increasing by around 36,265 people (8.99%) compared to the situation in August 2006.

Based on the results of Sakernas in February 2007, the Work Force Participation Rate (TPAK) in West Sulawesi was 64.2% or an increase of around 3.2% when compared to conditions in August 2006.

On the other hand the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in West Sulawesi in February 2007 reached around 4.1%, this figure fell by 2.3% when compared to conditions in August 2006. The decline in the TPT rate was estimated due to a big harvest, especially paddy rice and also fruit season such as durian and langsat in February.

The population of working status in West Sulawesi is still dominated by informal workers which amounted to 82.9% in February 2007, while the remaining around 17.1% were formal workers.
