Mamuju, 2 May 2024 – The West Sulawesi Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded a significant increase in the number of airplane and ship passengers in the region in March 2024.
Compared to February 2024, the number of airplane passengers departing and arriving in West Sulawesi has increased by 30.62 percent and 36.48 percent respectively. The same thing happened to ship passengers, with the number of departing passengers increasing by 135.27 percent.
"This increase shows that the transportation sector in West Sulawesi is starting to recover," said Head of BPS West Sulawesi Province, Tina Wahyufitri.
Despite the increase, the number of ship passengers arriving in March 2024 actually decreased by 26.25 percent.
"This decline is likely influenced by several factors, such as people's travel patterns and other factors," explained Tina
BPS hopes that the transportation sector in West Sulawesi can continue to develop and support community mobility and encourage regional economic growth.
