Tourist Visits to West Sulawesi Fall in March 2024

Mamuju, 2 May 2024 – The West Sulawesi Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the hotel Room Occupancy Rate (TPK) in the region experienced a decline in March 2024.

Compared to February 2024, the ROR for Star Classified Hotels in West Sulawesi fell 11.50 points to 22.58 percent. The decline also occurred in the ROR for non-star hotels or other accommodation, which fell 3.52 points to 17.28 percent.

"The decrease in TPK is likely influenced by several factors, such as the end of the holiday season and other factors," said Head of BPS West Sulawesi Province, Tina Wahyufitri.

Even though the ROR has decreased, the average length of stay for foreign guests at Star Classified Hotels in March 2024 has increased by 0.47 points to 1.47 days.

"The increasing average length of stay for foreign guests shows that West Sulawesi is still a tourist attraction for foreign tourists," explained Tina.

BPS hopes that the tourism sector in West Sulawesi can continue to develop and make a positive contribution to the regional economy.
