BPS-Statistics Sulawesi Barat Province has released several of the latest strategic indicators, related to the January 2024 Consumer Price Index, January 2024 Farmers Terms of Trade, December 2023 Foreign Trade, December 2023 Transportation Development, and December 2023 Tourism Development. This was conveyed by the Head of Sulawesi Barat Province BPS, Tina Wahyufitri, on Thursday, February 1st, 2024.


Here is a summary of these data:


I. January 2024 Inflation Year On Year (Y-On-Y) of Sulawesi Barat Province is 2.25 percent. The highest inflation occurred in Majene Regency by 3.14 percent.

  • In January 2024, Year on Year (Y-On-Y) inflation in Sulawesi Barat Province was 2.25 percent with a consumer price index (CPI) of 105.29. The highest inflation occurred in Majene Regency by 3.14 percent with CPI of 106.60 and the lowest occurred in Mamuju by 0.86 percent with CPI of 103.26.

  • Y-on-Y inflation occurs due to an increase in prices shown by the increase in the expenditure group index, namely: food, beverage and tobacco groups by 3.33 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.46 percent; Groups of equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance by 0.93 percent; health group by 2.55 percent; Transportation group of 1.79 percent; Recreation, sports and culture groups of 8.38 percent; education group by 0.67 percent; Food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 6.11 percent; and private maintenance groups and other services by 1.01 percent. While the expenditure group experienced a decrease in index, namely: clothing and footwear groups by 0.38 percent; and the information, communication and financial services group of 0.25 percent.

  • Month to Month (M-to-M) inflation rate and Year to date (y-to-D) inflation rates in Sulawesi Barat Province in January 2024 each amounting to 0.08 percent.



II. January 2024, the exchange rate of Sulawesi Barat farmers is 129.49. Decrease 0.09% compared to December 2023

  • NTP is an IT comparison of IB that is used to show the exchange power of agricultural products with goods and services consumed and for production costs. The higher the NTP, the relatively stronger the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers.

  • Starting in January 2020 a change of basic year was carried out in the calculation of the price index received by farmers (IT) and the price index paid by farmers (IB) from the 2012 Basic Year = 100 to the Basic Year 2018 = 100. Both types of indexes are components in the calculation of farmers' exchange rates (NTP). This basic year change is carried out to adjust changes in production patterns, production costs, and household consumption in rural areas. In the base year 2018 = 100 there was an increase in the scope of the number of commodities both in the IT and IB commodity packages compared to the 2012 Basic Year = 100.

  • Sulawesi Barat NTP January 2024 amounted to 129.49 or down 0.09 percent compared to NTP December 2023 which amounted to 129.60. NTP decline is caused by an increase in IT which is slower than the increase in IB. IT recorded an increase of 0.63 percent and IB which also increased by 0.72 percent.

  • NTP according to the sub-sector is recorded for the Food Crops Subsector (NTP-P) 107.00; Horticultural Subsector (NTP-H) 106.39; People's Plantation Crops Subsector (NTP-R) 155.88; Animal Husbandry Subsector (NTP-T) 92.98; and the Fisheries Subsector (NTN-P) 97.72.



III. During December 2023 the export value of Sulawesi Barat Province reached US $ 61.93 million and the import value of Sulawesi Barat Province reached US $ 0.27 million

  • The export value of Sulawesi Barat Province in December 2023 reached US $ 61.93 million, up 81.66 percent compared to November 2023. The same condition compared to December 2022 where there was an increase of 29.42 percent.

  • Animal/Vegetable Oil is a major export commodity in Sulawesi Barat Province during December 2023 with a contribution of 93.41 percent of the total exports of Sulawesi Barat Province.

  • China became the largest destination country for the export of Sulawesi Barat Province during December 2023 with a contribution of 55.71 percent.

  • Cumulatively, the export value of Sulawesi Barat Province rose by 4.33 percent, from US $ 496.54 million (January-December 2022) to US $ 475.95 million (January-December 2023).

  • During December 2023, the value of imports of goods to the Province of Sulawesi Barat was US $ 0.27 million or decreased by 67.20 percent compared to November 2023.

  • Cumulatively, the import value of Sulawesi Barat Province rose by 249.37 percent, from US $ 3.75 million (January-December 2022) to US $ 13.12 million (January-December 2023).

  • Foreign Trade Statistics Data, is the result of compilation of trade transaction data between countries, both export and import transactions. Export statistical data is a realization data from trading transactions sourced in the Export Notification Document (PEB). Whereas import statistical data, sourced from the goods import notification document (PIB). The document was approved by the Customs and Excise and Excise Services Office (KPPBC). In its preparation, the type of commodity is grouped based on the Harmonized System (HS) classification as in the Indonesian Customs Rates (BTKI). Besides that, it also contains information about trade transportation traffic in the port of export goods to the destination country and the port of unloading from the country of origin of imported goods.



IV. In December 2023, Room occupancy Rate of Classified Hotel was  48,14 percent and Non -Classified Hotel or other accommodation was  19,92 percent

  • Room occupancy rate (TPK) Hotel Star Classification in Sulawesi Barat Province in the December 2024 period of 48.14 percent. The TPK increased by 5.01 points compared to the November 2023 period which was recorded at 43.13 percent.

  • Room occupancy rate (TPK) of non -star hotels or other accommodation in Sulawesi Barat Province for the period in December 2023 at 19.92 percent. The TPK decreased by 1.32 points compared to the November 2023 period which was recorded at 21.24 percent.

  • The average length of staying of the archipelago guests in the December 2023 period at the star classification hotel was recorded at 1.11 days or decreased by 0.21 days when compared to the November 2023 period. Meanwhile, no foreign guests stayed at the star classification hotel for December 2023. The same condition when compared to November 2023.

  • The average number of guests per hotel room classification in the period of December 2023 was recorded at 1.99 people or increased by 0.06 points when compared to last month's conditions which were recorded at 1.93 people. Meanwhile, the average number of guests per non-star hotel room or other accommodation in the period of December 2023 was recorded at 1.87 people or did not change compared to the November 2023 period which was recorded at 1.95 people.



V. The number of aircraft departed in December 2023 was 43 aircraft while the number of aircraft arriving was 42 aircraft. The number of ships came and departed in December 2023 as many as 255 ships.

  • The number of aircraft passengers departing in December 2023 was 2,952 passengers, an increase of 14.42 percent compared to November which was recorded at 2,580 passengers.

  • The number of aircraft passengers who arrived in December 2023 was 2,975 passengers, an increase of 18.81 percent compared to November which was recorded at 2,504 passengers.

  • The number of ship passengers departing in December 2023 was 1,858 passengers, decreased by 7.15 percent compared to November which was recorded at 2,001 passengers.

  • The number of ship passengers who arrived in December 2023 was 1,567 passengers, an increase of 3.50 percent compared to November which was recorded at 1,514 passengers.
