The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of West Sulawesi Province and the National Agency for Population and Family Planning (BKKBN) of West Sulawesi Province agreed to strengthen collaboration in analyzing and utilizing statistical data related to populations and families. It is hoped that this collaboration will increase in-depth understanding of demographic trends and community needs, as well as provide a solid basis for planning and decision-making.
The meeting between BPS Sulbar and BKKBN West Sulawesi was held in the BPS Sulbar Hall and was attended by the Head of BPS, Tina Wahyufitri, and the Head of the West Sulawesi BKKBN Team, Dian Pancawati, along with staff involved in collecting and analyzing statistical data. The discussion focused on discussing more efficient data collection strategies, more in-depth analysis, and mapping needs and challenges in terms of population and families in the West Sulawesi region.
Tina in her speech conveyed the importance of accurate and reliable data in development planning. "Population and family data are the main foundation for various development policies and programs, both at the national and regional levels," said Tina. He also added that close collaboration between BPS and BKKBN will ensure that the data is reliable and useful for all parties.
Dian emphasized BKKBN's commitment to supporting efforts to improve the quality of population and family data. "With strong collaboration, we will be able to produce more in-depth and useful data for sustainable planning in the population and family aspects," said Dian.
One of the main focuses of this meeting is ensuring the consistency and accuracy of the data produced by the two institutions. BPS Sulbar and BKKBN Sulbar agreed to update information related to changes in methodology or data collection parameters.
Aan Setyawan, Young Expert Statist at West Sulawesi BPS also provided an explanation of the methodology and definitional concepts used in the 2020 Population Census.
"Indeed there are differences in several population definition concepts used in the 2020 Population Census and Family Data Collection. There is no wrong data, different definitional concepts will produce different data," explained Aan.
This strengthened collaboration also involved the development of more sophisticated analytical methods, including the use of more sophisticated information technology and statistical models to generate deeper insights from existing data.
In concluding this meeting, Tina and Dian expressed their optimism in advancing this collaboration. Both of them believe that high-quality data will have a positive impact on better development planning in West Sulawesi, as well as make a real contribution to people's welfare.
