Abstract

  • The increase in the HDI for 2024 occurred in all dimensions, including life expectancy and good health, knowledge, and standards of living.

  • The growth of the HDI in 2024 showed acceleration compared to the previous year, mainly due to the faster progress in the standard of living dimension.

  • In the life expectancy and good health dimension, babies born in 2024 are expected to live up to 71.03 years, an increase of 0.27 years compared to those born the previous year. The life expectancy data at birth comes from the results of the Long Form SP2020 (SP2020-LF).

  • In the knowledge dimension, the expected years of schooling (HLS) for the population aged 7 years and over increased by 0.01 years compared to the previous year, from 12.88 to 12.89 years. Meanwhile, the average years of schooling (RLS) for the population aged 25 years and over increased by 0.02 years, from 8.13 years to 8.15 years in 2024. Data for HLS and RLS come from the March National Socio-Economics Survey (Susenas) survey.

  • In the standard of living dimension, measured by the average real per capita annual expenditure (adjusted), there was an increase of 490 thousand rupiahs (5.04 percent) compared to the previous year. Data for real per capita annual expenditure comes from the March Susenas survey.
