The decline in the Gender Inequality Index (IKG) in Sulawesi Barat was influenced by improvements in the dimensions of reproductive health and empowerment.
Improvements in the reproductive health dimension are influenced by improvements in the indicator for women giving birth not in a health facility, which fell from 13.1 percent in 2022 to 11.0 percent in 2023, as well as improvements in the indicator for ever-married women whose first birth was less than 20 years old, down from 36.6 percent. in 2022 to 32.9 percent in 2023.
Improvements in the empowerment dimension were influenced by improvements in the minimum high school education indicator for women, which increased higher than for men. The percentage of women increased by 1.62 points or from 32.75 percent in 2022 to 34.37 percent in 2023, while the percentage of men only increased by 1.33 points or increased from 38.03 percent in 2022 to 39.36 percent in 2023.
