Human development in West Sulawesi in 2015 continued to experience progress marked by the continued increase in the West Sulawesi Human Development Index (HDI). In 2015, West Sulawesi HDI reached 62.96. This figure increased by 0.73 points or grew by 1.17 percent compared to West Sulawesi HDI in 2014 which amounted to 62.24.
Since the last 5 years, to be exact 2011, human development in West Sulawesi has a "moderate" status, from what was previously a "low" status.
During the period of 2014 to 2015, it appears that all components forming West Sulawesi HDI also experienced an increase. Life Expectancy (AHH), which is a newborn baby has a chance to live up to 64.22 years, an increase of 0.18 years compared to the previous year. Expectations of School Duration (HLS), ie children aged 7 years, have the opportunity to attend school for 12.22 years, an increase of 0.44 years compared to 2014. Likewise the Average School Length (RLS), ie population aged 25 years to above, on average, have been educated for 6.94 years, an increase of 0.06 years compared
previous year. Adjusted per capita expenditure (constant 2012 prices) reached 8.26 million rupiah in 2015, an increase of Rp 90.11 thousand rupiah compared to the previous year.
