The poor population of West Sulawesi in March 2015 was 160.48 thousand people or increased by 5.79 thousand people compared to the poor population in September 2014.
During one semester (September 2014 - March 2015), the percentage of poor people in urban areas increased by 0.52 percentage points, but in absolute terms the number of urban poor people decreased by 2.48 thousand people. Meanwhile, in rural areas the number and percentage of poor people increased by 8.26 thousand people (0.20 percentage point).
West Sulawesi Poverty Line (GK) of Rp. 261,881 per capita per month or an increase of 6.23 percent when compared to September 2014. The contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line in March 2015 amounted to 79.73 percent.
There were 5 food commodities in March 2015 that contributed the most to the value of the Poverty Line both in urban and rural areas, namely rice, filter clove cigarettes, tuna / cakalang, sugar and milkfish. Non-food commodities give the greatest contribution to the value of the poverty line both in urban and rural areas, namely housing costs.
The Poverty Depth Index (P1) of West Sulawesi was 1.93 or decreased by 0.01 points when compared to September 2014, while the Poverty Severity Index (P2) of West Sulawesi was 0.46 or decreased by 0.06 points compared to September 2014. This indicates that the average expenditure of the poor tends to get closer to the Poverty Line and disparity in expenditure among the poor itself is getting closer (tend to be homogeneous).
