Abstract

West Sulawesi Economic Growth in the fourth quarter of 2012 was 4.00 faster than the third quarter of 2012 which contracted by 0.03 percent. If compared to the same quarter of 2011, it was seen that the economy of West Sulawesi experienced growth of up to 8.16 percent. Thus in 2012 the economy of West Sulawesi accelerated at 9.01 percent.

The amount of economic activity in West Sulawesi in the fourth quarter based on current prices and constant prices in 2000 was 3,795.63 billion rupiah and 1,469.52 billion rupiah. While the total economic activity of West Sulawesi in 2012 based on current prices was 14,407.64 billion rupiahs and 5,704.33 billion rupiahs at constant 2000 prices.

In the fourth quarter of 2012 (q to q) the economic sector with the highest growth was construction at 29.15 percent. While the highest contributor to growth was the service sector by 2.35 percent which grew 12.53 percent. On an annual basis in 2012, all economic sectors experienced positive growth with the highest growth in the service sector which drove at 20.00 percent. While the agricultural sector, which ranks sixth highest in all economic sectors, is actually an engine of growth with a contribution of 3.21 percent.

Three economic sectors contributing to the economy in the fourth quarter of 2012 (ADHB) were the agricultural sector (42.73 percent); the services sector (22.04 percent) and the trade, hotel and restaurant sector (13.52 percent). The same thing also happened to the annual figures, where the three sectors became the largest share in the creation of economic activities in West Sulawesi with a magnitude of 47.43 percent each; 19.26 percent and 13.06 percent.

In terms of usage, in 2012 most of the GRDP was used to meet household consumption, which amounted to 65.54 percent. Then the rest is used for government consumption 28.51 percent, gross fixed capital formation or physical investment 11.98 percent, exports 18.27 percent (marked +) and imports 24.43 percent (marked -).

All components of GRDP usage experienced positive growth in 2012. The highest growth occurred in government consumption 13.02 percent, followed by exports 6.83 percent, household consumption 6.16 percent, imports 5.28 percent and PMTB 3.24 percent .

Per capita GRDP at current prices in 2012 reached Rp 11.84 million, higher than in 2010 which amounted to Rp 10.83 million.
