Abstract

ECONOMIC GROWTH OF SULAWESI BARAT QUARTER III 2010  Sulawesi Barat economic growth measured by the increase in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at constant prices from quarter II / 2010 to quarter III / 2010 grew by 1.48 percent (q-to-q) , whereas when compared with the same quarter of 2009 experienced growth of 15.29 percent (y-on-y). While cumulative growth from quarter I / 2010 to quarter III / 2010 (c to c) reached 11.79 percent.  The magnitude of Sulawesi Barat GRDP in the third quarter of 2010 based on current prices reached Rp 2,635.55 billion while on the basis of constant 2000 prices it reached Rp 1,189.06 billion.  The three economic sectors experienced the highest growth in Q3 / 2010 (q-to-q): the construction sector grew 33.3 percent, the mining and quarrying sector 24.29 percent and the three financial, rental and service sectors grew to reach 18.65 percent. While the highest growth (y-on-y) occurred in the mining and quarrying sector by 30.50 percent, followed by the financial, rental and business services sector which grew by 24.21 percent, followed by the transportation and communication sector which grew by 22.99 percent.  The agriculture sector and manufacturing sector in the third quarter of 2009 were the economic sectors that had underperforming performance, which was marked by a decline in economic growth of minus 5.47 percent (qtq) and minus 0.50 percent (q- on-q).  All components of GRDP usage experienced positive growth in quarter III / 2010 (q-to-q). The three components that experienced the highest growth were gross fixed capital formation (PMTB) which increased by 16.15 percent. Furthermore, imports and government consumption each grew by 12.08 percent and 7.28 percent.  In real terms, in quarter III / 2010 (y-on-y) there was an increase in all components of GRDP according to usage except PMTB which fell by minus 0.15 percent. The highest growth occurred in imports (a component of the use of GRDP) which increased by 22.79 percent. Furthermore, exports and household consumption each grew by around 19.37 percent and 10.59 percent over the same period in 2009.  In terms of usage, 66.78 percent of income was used for household consumption. The import and consumption components of the government each received a portion of 24.84 percent and 24.62 percent. Meanwhile, the portion of exports and PMTB was 15.46 percent and 13.41 percent.  At the National level, economic growth in the third quarter of 2010 amounted to 3.45 percent (q-to-q) and 5.82 percent (y-on-y). GDP value based on current prices of Rp. 1,654.5 trillion and GDP at a constant 2000 price of Rp. 593.6 trillion
