Abstract

ECONOMIC GROWTH OF SULAWESI BARAT QUARTER II 2010  Sulawesi Barat economic growth measured by the increase in Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at constant prices from quarter I / 2010 to quarter II / 2010 grew by 6.89 percent (q-to-q) , whereas when compared with the same quarter of 2009 experienced growth of 18.78 percent (y-on-y).  The magnitude of West Sulawesi's GRDP in the second quarter of 2010 based on current prices reached Rp 2,588.85 billion while on the basis of constant 2000 prices it reached Rp 1,219.13 billion.  The three economic sectors that experienced the highest growth in Q2 / 2010 (q-to-q) were the manufacturing sector which grew by 18.21 percent, followed by the mining and quarrying sector which grew by 10.49 percent and the electricity, gas and clean water which grew 10.43 percent. While the highest growth (y-on-y,) occurred in the mining and quarrying sector which grew by 48.72 percent followed by the manufacturing sector which grew 36.14 percent, and the agricultural sector which grew 34.96 percent.  The services sector in the second quarter of 2010 was the economic sector that had the smallest growth (q-t-q) which grew by only 2.23 percent although it still grew positively, while the economic sector that experienced growth was less encouraging in the period (y - on-y) is the construction sector marked by economic growth of minus 15.38 percent.  All components of GRDP usage experienced positive growth in quarter II / 2010 (q-to-q). The three components that experienced the highest growth were exports, which increased by 28.53 percent. Furthermore, government consumption and PMTB grew by 3.96 percent and 3.84 percent respectively.  In real terms, in quarter II / 2010 (y-on-y) there was an increase in all components of GRDP according to usage except PMTB which fell to minus 9.06 percent. The highest growth occurred in exports, which increased by 46.00 percent. Furthermore, imports as a component of the use of GRDP grew by 17.10 percent and household consumption grew by around 10.20 percent over the same period in 2009.  In terms of usage, 63.59 percent of income was used for household consumption. Components of government consumption and imports each received a portion of 22.36 percent and 22.20 percent. Meanwhile, the portion of exports and PMTB was 15.19 percent and 11.79 percent
