Abstract
Based on the results of the Consumer Price Survey of 66 cities in Indonesia in June 2010, there were 63 cities experiencing inflation and 3 other cities experiencing deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Jambi 3.23 percent with CPI 123.18 and the lowest in Sorong 0.14 percent with CPI 138.14, while the highest deflation occurred in Manado 1.07 percent with CPI 118.96 and the lowest in Kendari 0.06 percent with 123.46 CPI. Meanwhile, with inflation of 1.36 percent and CPI 123.13 Mamuju ranked 16th among cities experiencing inflation. The inflation rate of Mamuju City in 2010 (December 2009 - June 2010) was 1.45 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (June 2009 - June 2010) was 3.56 percent. Meanwhile, on a national scale, inflation in June 2010 in Indonesia amounted to 0.97 percent, with CPI 119.86. Indonesia's inflation rate in 2010 (December 2009 - June 2010) was 2.42 percent, while the inflation rate "year on year" (June 2009 - June 2010) was 5.05 percent. Inflation in Mamuju in June 2010 was generally caused by an increase in the consumer price index in the following four categories of goods and services: foodstuffs 4.62 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group 0.70 percent; clothing group 0.38 percent; and the transportation, communication and financial services group 0.12 percent. Meanwhile, the processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group and the health group experienced a decrease of 0.09 percent and 0.91 percent, while the education, recreation and sports group did not experience changes in the price index. Significant increase in the foodstuffs group was due to the large share of inflation in the fresh fish and spices sub group of 0.71 percent and 0.27 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, a significant increase in the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group was caused by the large share of inflation in the housing cost sub-group by 0.17 percent. Commodities contributing to inflation are: skipjack fresh fish 0.47 percent, 0.17 percent house contract, 0.10 percent fresh fly fish, cayenne pepper and 0.09 percent vegetable tomatoes, red chili, milkfish and garlic 0.05 percent each, fresh tuna and red onions 0.04 percent each, and wet shrimp, zinc and gold jewelry 0.03 percent each. Meanwhile, commodities that contributed to inflation but were negative: powder, flour and granulated sugar -0.02 percent each, as well as young jackfruit, cooking oil, concrete iron, bath soap, ceramics and duck eggs respectively - 0.01 percent.
