The decline in rice production in 2009 was due to a decrease in harvested area of 7,498 hectares (10.35 percent) but in terms of productivity increased by 0.46 kw / hectare (0.97 percent). Furthermore, the Forecast Number II (ARAM II) of Sulawesi Barat Province's rice production in 2010 is estimated to reach 333,188 tons of MPD, an increase of 22,482 tons (7.24 percent) compared to production in 2009. The increase in production in 2010 was triggered by an increase in harvested area which is expected to increase from 64,973 hectares in 2009 to 69,924 hectares in 2010, or an increase of around 4,951 hectares (7.62 percent), but in terms of productivity there is a decline that is expected to decrease by about 0.17 kw / ha (0.36 percent), ie from 47.82 kw / ha in 2009 to 47.65 kw / ha in 2010 (ARAM II 2010) B.
