Abstract

HOTEL LEVEL OF HOTEL ROOMS IN SULAWESI BARAT, QUARTER III 2009 Kamar The average occupancy rate of starred hotels in West Sulawesi in the third quarter of 2009 was around 13.26 percent. That is, the average number of rooms used out of all available rooms is only 13.26 percent. The highest Occupancy Rate of the Starred Hotels occurred in July at 18.73 percent, while the lowest was at 10.04 percent in August 2009. The ROR for starred hotels in the third quarter was lower when compared to the second quarter of 28.06 percent.  The average TPK for Other Accommodations is around 38.28 percent, 25.02 points higher than the average TPK for Starred Hotels in the same period (quarter III 2009). The highest TPK for Other Accommodations was in September with 38.51 percent and the lowest was in August with 37.85 percent. The TPK for other accommodations in the third quarter was greater than in the second quarter with a difference of 0.39 percent.  The average length of stay of foreign guests in the Classified Hotel classification during the third quarter of 2009 was 1.29 days or 0.96 points lower than the average length of stay of archipelago guests by 2.25 days. Furthermore, in the Other Accommodation classification the average length of stay of foreign guests is 1 day or 1.35 points lower than the archipelago guests with an average length of stay of 2.35 days. Thus the average length of stay of foreign guests in Starred Hotels is different from the pattern of the average length of stay of foreign guests in other accommodations (the average length of stay of foreign guests in Starred Hotels is higher but in Other Accommodations is lower than the average length of stay stay archipelago guests).  Guest Per Room (GPR) or the average number of Guests per Room for Starred Hotels in the third quarter of 2009 was 3.07 people, while the Other Accommodation GPR was 1.81 people. This means that the average rooms sold in the Classified Hotel classification was inhabited by 3.07 people, while in the Other Accommodations classification the average rooms sold was occupied by 1.81 people lower than the GPR for Starred Hotels. When compared to the second quarter, GPR for Starred Hotels in the third quarter was 1.38 percent higher, while the GPR for Other Accommodations in the third quarter was 0.12 percent higher. Official Gazette of West Sulawesi Province No. 35/11/76 / Th. III, 2 November 2009 1 The Room Occupancy Rate in the Classified Hotel classification in the third quarter of July to September 2009 period was quite fluctuating. The highest TPK of 18.73 percent occurred in July and the lowest in August of 10.04 percent. When compared to the average TPK for the same period in 2008, a decrease was seen from 26.12 to 13.26 percent for star-rated hotels, while for other accommodations it increased from 32.78 percent to 38.28 percent. The development of TPK for Starred Hotels in the third quarter of 2009 differed in pattern from the third quarter of 2008. This can be seen in the period July-September 2009 tended to decrease from 18.73 percent in July to 11.03 percent in September, but in the same period in 2008, the period from July to September continued to increase, from 20.22 percent in July to 31.38 percent in September. Meanwhile, the average occupancy rate of starred hotel rooms in the third quarter of 2009 was smaller than the ROR for the same period in 2008, this shows that the average room used every night of all available rooms in starred hotels in the third quarter 2009 was less than the third quarter of 2008, respectively 13.26 percent and 26.12 percent.
