Abstract

; Farmer Exchange Rates (NTP) of West Sulawesi in January 2009 amounted to 102.90; up 0.49 percent compared to the December 2008 NTP which only reached 102.40. In addition, NTP according to sub-sector recorded 93.87 for the Food Crop Sub-sector (NTP-P); 91.14 for the Horticulture Sub-sector (NTP-H); 120.12 for the People's Plantation Plantation Sub-sector (NTP-R); 106.02 for the Livestock Sub-sector (NTP-T) and 103.75 for the Fisheries Sub-sector (NTN). ; The results of rural consumer price monitoring show that rural deflation in West Sulawesi in January 2009 was 0.01 percent, which is generally due to a significant decrease in the price index in three of the seven expenditure groups: foodstuffs 0.14 percent; education, recreation, and sports 0.29 percent; and transportation and communication 1.71 percent. While four other expenditure groups experienced an increase in price index, among others: processed food 0.91 percent; housing 0.10 percent; clothing 0.52 percent; and health 0.74 percent. ; Compared to other provinces, West Sulawesi is one of the 10 provinces that experienced deflation in rural areas, the highest in West Irian Jaya 0.58 percent and the lowest in West Sulawesi and Central Java each at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, 22 other provinces experienced inflation, the highest in Bengkulu 2.12 percent and the lowest in East Java 0.14 percent.
