Abstract

; Based on the results of the Consumer Price Survey of 66 cities in Indonesia in November 2008, there were 27 cities experiencing inflation and 39 other cities experiencing deflation. Mamuju experienced inflation of 0.08 percent with CPI 117.84 and ranked 23 out of 27 cities experiencing inflation. The highest inflation in Tanjung Pinang was 1.51 percent with CPI 116.84 and the lowest in Surabaya was 0.04 percent with CPI 111.66. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Maumere -1.63 percent with 121.62 CPI and the lowest in Mataram -0.02 percent with CPI 115.13. ; The Mamuju City inflation rate in 2008 (November 2008 to December 2007) was 10.34 percent, while the year on year inflation rate (November 2008 to November 2007) was 15.08 percent. ; Inflation in Mamuju in November 2008 was generally caused by an increase in the price index of various commodity goods and services in the following five categories of goods and services: housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel by 0.12 percent; clothing group 0.11 percent; health group 1.73 percent; education, recreation, and sports group of 0.08 percent; and the transportation, communication and financial services group by 0.14 percent. Meanwhile, goods and services included in the foodstuffs and processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco category generally experienced a price index decline of -0.04 and -0.13 percent, respectively. ; Commodities that contributed significantly to inflation were: milkfish (0.28%), rice (0.20%), long beans (0.12%) and cars (0.08%). While commodities contributing to negative inflation include: fresh katamba fish (-0.30%), skipjack (-0.29%), flying (0.08%), and inter-city transportation (0.08%). The results of monitoring of retail prices of various commodity goods and services in November 2008 in Mamuju City in general showed an increase in prices although it was relatively small. Therefore, from calculating the CPI using base year 2007 = 100, it was noted that
