BPS-Statistics Sulawesi Barat Province has released several of the latest strategic indicators, related to the February 2024 Consumer Price Index, February 2024 Farmers Terms of Trade, January 2024 Foreign Trade, January 2024 Transportation Development, and January 2024 Tourism Development. This was conveyed by the Head of Sulawesi Barat Province BPS, Tina Wahyufitri, on Friday, March 1st, 2024.


Here is a summary of these data:


I. February 2024 Inflation Year On Year (Y-On-Y) of Sulawesi Barat Province is 2.22 percent. The highest inflation occurred in Majene Regency by 2.59 percent

  • In February 2024, Year on Year (Y-On-Y) inflation in Sulawesi Barat Province was 2.22 percent with a consumer price index (CPI) of 105.37. The highest inflation occurred in Majene Regency by 2.59 percent with CPI of 106.15 and the lowest occurred in Mamuju by 1.63 percent with CPI of 104.15.

  • Y-on-Y inflation occurs due to the increase in prices shown by the increase in the expenditure group index, namely: food, beverage and tobacco groups by 3.99 percent; Groups of equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance by 0.16 percent; health group by 3.84 percent; Transportation group by 1.18 percent; Recreation, sports and culture groups by 1.52 percent; education group by 0.67 percent; Food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 6.16 percent; and private maintenance groups and other services by 0.93 percent. While the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in index, namely: clothing and footwear groups by 0.78 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.04 percent; and the information, communication and financial services group of 0.25 percent.

  • The inflation rate of Month to Month (M-to-M) of Sulawesi Barat Province is 0.08 percent and the inflation rate of year to date (y-to-D) is 0.15 percent.


II. February 2024, the exchange rate of Sulawesi Barat farmers is 135.10. Up 4.34% compared to January 2024

  • NTP is an IT comparison of IB that is used to show the exchange power of agricultural products with goods and services consumed and for production costs. The higher the NTP, the relatively stronger the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers.

  • Starting in January 2020 a change of basic year was carried out in the calculation of the price index received by farmers (IT) and the price index paid by farmers (IB) from the 2012 Basic Year = 100 to the Basic Year 2018 = 100. Both types of indexes are components in the calculation of farmers' exchange rates (NTP). This basic year change is carried out to adjust changes in production patterns, production costs, and household consumption in rural areas. In the base year 2018 = 100 there was an increase in the scope of the number of commodities both in the IT and IB commodity packages compared to the 2012 Basic Year = 100.

  • Sulawesi Barat NTP February 2024 amounted to 135.10 or up 4.34 percent compared to January 2024 NTP which amounted to 129.49. Increased NTP is caused by an increase in IT which is faster than the increase in IB. IT recorded an increase of 4.40 percent and IB increased by 0.06 percent.

  • NTP according to the subsector is recorded for the Food Crops Sub-sector (NTP-P) 109.65; Horticultural Subsector (NTP-H) 105.20; Community Plantation Plant Crops (NTP-R) 165.18; Animal Husbandry Subsector (NTP-T) 93.52; and Fisheries Sub-sector (NTN-P) 99.65.


III. During January 2024 the export value of Sulawesi Barat Province reached US $ 26.26 million, and there were no import activities in Sulawesi Barat Province

  • The export value of Sulawesi Barat Province in January 2024 reached US $ 26.26 million, down 57.60 percent compared to December 2023. The same condition compared to January 2023 where there was a decrease of 7.66 percent.

  • Animal/Vegetable Oil is a major export commodity in Sulawesi Barat Province during January 2024 with a contribution of 86.55 percent of the total exports of Sulawesi Barat Province.

  • China became the largest destination country for the export of Sulawesi Barat Province during January 2024 with a contribution of 56.83 percent.

  • During January 2024, there were no import activities from the Province of Sulawesi Barat.

  • Foreign Trade Statistics Data, is the result of compilation of trade transaction data between countries, both export and import transactions. Export statistical data is a realization data from trading transactions sourced in the Export Notification Document (PEB). Whereas import statistical data, sourced from the goods import notification document (PIB). The document was approved by the Customs and Excise and Excise Services Office (KPPBC). In its preparation, the type of commodity is grouped based on the Harmonized System (HS) classification as in the Indonesian Customs Rates (BTKI). Besides that, it also contains information about trade transportation traffic in the port of export goods to the destination country and the port of unloading from the country of origin of imported goods.


IV. In January 2024, Bintang Classification Hotel TPK was 26.84 percent and non -star hotel TPK or other accommodation was 16.40 percent

  • Room occupancy rate (TPK) Hotel Star Classification in Sulawesi Barat Province in the January 2024 period of 26.84 percent. The TPK decreased by 21.30 points compared to the December 2023 period which was recorded at 48.14 percent.

  • Room occupancy rate (TPK) of non -star hotels or other accommodations in Sulawesi Barat Province in the January 2024 period of 16.40 percent. The TPK decreased by 3.52 points compared to the December 2023 period which was recorded at 19.92 percent.

  • The average length of staying of the archipelago guests in the January 2024 period at the star classification hotel was recorded at 1.14 days or increased by 0.03 days compared to the period of December 2023. amounting to 1.00 days.

  • The average number of guests per hotel room classification in the January 2024 period was recorded at 2.01 people or increased by 0.02 points when compared to last month's conditions which were recorded at 1.99 people. Meanwhile, the average number of guests per non-star hotel room or other accommodation in the January 2024 period recorded at 1.92 people or increased by 0.06 points when compared to last month's conditions recorded at 1.87 people.


V. The number of aircraft departed and arrived in January 2024 as many as 19 aircraft, the number of ships came and departed in January 2024 as many as 198 ships

  • The number of aircraft passengers departing in January 2024 was 1,681 passengers, decreased by 43.06 percent compared to December 2023 which was recorded at 2,952 passengers.

  • The number of aircraft passengers who arrived in January 2024 was 1,912 passengers, decreased by 35.73 percent compared to December 2023 which was recorded at 2,975 passengers.

  • The number of ship passengers departing in January 2024 was 481 passengers, decreased by 74.11 percent compared to December 2023 which was recorded at 1,858 passengers.

  • The number of ship passengers who arrived in January 2024 was 1,185 passengers, decreased by 24.38 percent compared to December 2023 which was recorded at 1,567 passengers.


VI. In 2023, the rice harvest area reached 58.61 thousand hectares, rice production was 291.46 thousand tons of GKG and rice production reached 167.39 thousand tons

  • The rice harvest area in 2023 reached around 58.61 thousand hectares, decreased by 10.71 thousand hectares or 15.46 percent compared to the rice harvest area in 2022 which was 69.32 thousand hectares.

  • Rice production in 2023, amounting to 291.46 thousand tons of GKG, decreased by 62.05 thousand tons or 17.55 percent compared to rice production in 2022 which was 353.51 thousand tons of GKG.

  • Rice production in 2023 for population food consumption reached 167.39 thousand tons, decreased by 35.64 thousand tons or 17.55 percent compared to rice production in 2022 which was 203.03 thousand tons.
